Halloween

This year for Halloween, we all dressed up and went to Chipotle to get our $2 burritos on the Chipotle "Boorito" Night. Matthew and Brittney did the same in Utah.

Post Program Class

Yesterday we had the Annual Primary Program at church. It is one of my favorites. As a Primary teacher I got to sit up on the stand with the kids. My whole married life, I've been on the stand all but maybe 5 times. I've either been in a Presidency, playing the piano or teaching. I'm just glad I didn't have to write the program, because I've done that more than I've cared to. This year we had some really fun songs! We sang one in Spanish, did sign language to one and learned 2 new songs, As a Child of God and Stand Up and Be Counted. I love both of them.

As a teacher, the Presidency said we didn't have to do a lesson as the kids would be wound up from the Program and my class is usually wound up anyways. I was trying to decide what to do to fill 45 minutes. Jacob suggested I take The Friend Magazine, but take out the page that has the hidden CTR ring on it and tell the kids the first one to find the ring gets a treat. He said it would take the whole class time since the ring page would be out. I love the way Jacob thinks. As funny as that would be, I just elected to print out some Article of Faith word searches and some coloring pages. I brought the laptop and showed a couple of church videos while they colored and found words. I also loaded them up with snacks and candy. It was a successful class. They were still a little wound up, but they were more calm then when I try to reach a lesson. Some of the kids told me it was a really fun class. Hopefully they won't get to use to that.

I forgot to mention, one of the kids stuck a m&m up his nose and he smashed it in there. That was fun to clean up. Luckily it happened at the very end of class. The joys of 7 year olds. Love them anyways.

I only had 7 kids there, I usually have 10. I'm not sure where I would have put everyone, since we just had a new ward formed yesterday and they put a bunch of stuff that was in the new Bishop's office in that room. We could hardly get to the other side of the table and I stood the whole class time because I could fit a chair for me in there.

Mums, Friends, Football, Pictures,Dancing and Party

It must be Homecoming 2012

It was Homecoming last weekend and it was full of activities. We had to make a mum and I'm grateful that Makenzie doesn't like the really big mums. I offered to make it big, but she just likes it simple, if here is such a thing when it comes to mums. Her mum was mostly silver and white, that is the color of the Junior mum. I offered to make Jacob an arm garter, but he didn't want one. All of Jacob's friends took dates to the dance and since we think he is too young to date, he didn't have a date and he didn't go to the dance since all his friends had dates. Jacob had his friend Thomas come over and hang out with him during the dance.
Our football game was Saturday morning/afternoon. We won, but barely. We didn't win the game until the last few seconds. It was a little too close for comfort. The best part of the game was half-time, that's when the crown the HC Queen and King. This year, our friend Olivia Ritter was crowned the Queen. It was extra special because Olivia is a special needs student and she has served as one of the girls basketball managers for the past 2 years. It is nice to see the students do the right thing! The QB, Cole Thomas was crowned King. He was really sweet with Olivia. We came home and Makenzie started to get ready for the dance. She didn't have a date so her and a few of her friends went together. This is the nicest group of girls, they have gone to the dance together for the last 3 years now. They met at our house and then we went to take pictures, but we got a late start and it was getting dark. After pictures they came back to our house and ate pizza, yes, pizza, wouldn't have been my first choice, but that's what they wanted. To kill some time before the dance, we decided to take some more pictures. I shut the lid on my piano and they were laying on top of it and posing. They had a lot of fun doing that. They went to the dance at 8:30 and left at 10:20. At the dance Makenzie was talking to Olivia the HC Queen. She told Makenzie, "I get to dance with Cole at 10 o'clock and it's OK with my boyfriend." Olivia makes me laugh, she is so cute! After the dance, they went to Chili's. After Chili's they came back to our house and hot tubbed, roasted marshmallow's and made smore's. Then they watched a movie and everyone went home. It was a long day, but I think they had fun!

Neon Day

As part of Homecoming week they had a Neon Day, which is every day for Makenzie, she loves neon colors!  I sold football tickets in the Freshman cafeteria that day and that night we went to Whataburger after Jacob's game.

Twin Day

This week is Homecoming Week at the school. Each day there is a theme, yesterday's was "Twin Day".  Makenzie and our neighbor Corbin dressed up as twins and Jacob and his friend Austin dressed up. Makenzie and Corbin actually got a picture together at Seminary, Jacob and Austin didn't get one at school, but I have pictures while they were shopping for matching stuff.

We thought the turquoise skinny jeans would look cute with their hats, but it was a no!

Jacob with his moustache, Austin had one also, but no picture :(

Supporting a Cause

As most people are aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You can see a lot of people sporting the color pink, especially in the NFL and even BYU did it a few weeks ago. The school had a "pink out" day in support of awareness. You can even see kids on the football team wearing pink, Jacob included. It is a cause close to us since Dale's Mom is a breast cancer survivor.

Headed off to Seminary, then school.
Notice Makenzie's shirt... Dedicated to Grandma Smith

Jacob after school, he looks much happier than the before school pic.
