Sadie's 2010

Brittney is going to her first Sadie's dance tonight. She is going in a group of 24 kids. The theme of the dance had something to do with "how sweet" it is. Their group decided to make shirts with the "m" from m&m candies on it. Each couple was a different color. Brittney and her date Jeremy were light blue. We thought it would be so cool when we got them all together to take a group picture, unfortunately it was cold and windy and no one wanted to take their jackets off for very long. Hopefully someone will get a picture of them at the school. They also had their names on the back and I forgot to get a picture of that. It was cute how she asked him and how he responded, but that's another blog entry after I acquire the pictures. This is the temp from the mirror in my car. I have no idea what the wind chill was, but it was cold!

Makenzie On Fire!

Makenzie had a great game last night. She was a rebounding machine, had great defense, many assist, steals and had the magic touch when she shot the ball. She was 2-2 at the free throw line, 4-6 in shots taken. It was also a fun night because the High School teams came to watch them play and it was fun for Brittney to show off her little sister to fellow teammates. After the game her coach came up to her and said the 10 points she had didn't reflect everything she did on the court that night. What a nice compliment! Freshman, JV and Varsity girls scattered with a few others
The High School girls stood up and made a tunnel for Makenzie's team to run through and the 8th grade B team girls joined in. Makenzie looks like a ghost coming out the tunnel.
Shooting a free throw....SWISH

She got a steal and took it to the hole

Another swish!

Proud of My Daughter

I want to brag on Brittney a little bit.
Yesterday, her basketball game got started really late because the freshman game before her game went so long due to an injured girl on the other team. The paramedics were called in and they took forever, like 25 minutes to get there. Luckily the girl is ok. Brittney was asked to give the team prayer before the game and I was told that she included the injured girl in her prayer. I guess Brittney has been asked to give the last 6 team prayers because they like the way she prays. And yes we pray at school functions in Texas! Anyways, she got home really late because the Varsity game went into double over-time and she has to stay. She was up late doing homework and I suggested that she skip Seminary in the morning to get an extra hour and half of sleep. She said if she didn't wake up to her alarms to let her sleep, but make sure she was up by 6 to get ready for school. I was up at 5 and saw no light in her room, but about 5 minutes later she got up, got ready, and went to Seminary. I'm so proud of her dedication and the good example she is to everyone around her.

Spring Tease

Check this out! This was yesterday. It actually was up to 78, but I didn't think to take a picture till 75 and look at that humidity! I went and took a short nap on a lawn chair until I got to warm. I had a long sleeve shirt and capri's on that's why I got warm. I do have a funky tan line on the front of my legs, remember I was wearing capri's, but I'm not complaining.

Girls Just Want To Have Fun and Win!!

Makenzie's basketball team had 5 games last week. They had 1 on Wednesday that was their regular district game and then had 2 on Thursday and 2 on Saturday in a tournament they were in and they won all of their games!!! Tournament Camps!! Undefeated!!

Celebration at Fuddrucker's

They were trying to make milkshake moustaches

Proud to be an American

Friday night after Brittney's basketball game we stayed to watch the Varsity girls. Before the varsity games they always play the National Anthem. It started to play and kept going off and on and finally everyone in a almost full gym just took over singing it. It gave me goose bumps to hear everyone take pride in our country and sing out!

Jacob's First Game of the Season

Jacob had his first basketball game of the season. It was actually a scrimmage, but regular games start next week. Jacob thought he was cool in the headband that Matthew gave him for Christmas. Jacob is #4 in purple.

Don't Charge Makenzie....

...or you will get hurt and get the charge called.
Here is a sequence of Makenzie getting run into. It was funny in person, ok not funny to the girl who ran into her and she'll never try that again.
Makenzie is set
Bam!!!! She ran right into Makenzie.

And down she goes.

On her way down she caught Makenzie's foot and she went down also. I love the expression on the girls face that is still standing. Luckily no one was hurt.
I was just informed by Makenzie that they called traveling and not a charge, no matter what the call it was pretty funny to watch.
Got to love church basketball!

Church Basketball

This is the one time a year the girls get to play on the same basketball team, Church Basketball. They make a great team! Brittney going in for a lay up
She makes it!

Makenzie at the free throw line

Both resting!
They carry the team and finally got to rest when we were ahead. They played all the time except for this few minutes and Makenzie went out in their last game after being shoved in the back and she hit the floor and crashed into the score table.
