Laughter is the Best Medicine

A few nights ago as I was getting ready for bed I was feeling kind of sad and missing Matthew. After I had washed my face and put my PJ's on I came upstairs to watch some TV. I could hear Dale laughing and he told me to come over and see something. He was going through old home video's on the computer and found this little gem. We were both laughing so hard too the point Dale was even crying. I was laughing so hard I forgot I missed him.

Homecoming Weekend

It was Homecoming last weekend, so it was full of football, spirit rallies and the "Dance". Our football game was on Thursday night. That was an odd day for the game, but they won! Brittney wore her mum to school and the game. She didn't have the biggest mum, but it was the loudest.
The dance was Saturday night. She was in a group with 3 other couples. After the dance they came to our house and had an after party till 2 am. I think they would have stayed all night, but Dale kind of ended the party. Brittney's date had at least an 1 1/2 hour drive home. Dale just trying to be considerate to her date and his dad who was sleeping outside in his truck. Brittney before the football game
Jacob is also ready for the game

Brittney's Mum.
Juniors mum's are silver and white. Some people put a splash of their schools colors in it, but she didn't want any maroon in it.

After the game

Before her date arrived she went to her friend's house to take a few pictures together. Her friend was in a different group.
Yay for Homecoming!!!

Sports in Review

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the past week.
Makenzie diving for the ball and she got it!
Makenzie ready to hit the ball

Grandparents Smith and Brittney at Jacob's football game.
It was kind of cool for all of us Texas and California wimps.

Makenzie staying warm at Jacob's game

Nice shot of Jacob running

Dale congratulating Jacob on his win

The family with Dale's parents. We put Matthew's letterman jacket in the picture so he wouldn't be forgotten.

Dale also had a few picturs and a nice story about Jacob's game on his blog.

Home Improvement....

Well, not exactly. I was putting a tension rod with soap/shampoo holders in my shower and oops, the tension was too much and went right through the ceiling. We wanted to expand our shower, but not up, out.

Before Badgers... There Was Candy Corn

I saw a package of candy corn at the store today and it made me think of my Dad.
For anyone who has met my Dad he will ask you to say "badger" and if you do he will give you a tootsie roll. He is very popular with the children at church! All of my great nieces and nephews actually think tootsie rolls are called badgers. Before badgers there were carmels and toffee's, basically Brach's candies. But before that was candy corn. We could always find candy corn in my Dad's suit pockets. If we ever needed a sugar fix, to his closet we would go and go through all his suit jacket pockets. The funniest story about him carrying candy in his pockets is when he was in the Bishopric. He was setting someone apart for a calling and he could feel little hands in his pockets. A child had cleaned him out while he was setting the person setting apart. So in honor of my Dad, I bought candy corn today. It's way more sugary than I remember. Love you Dad!
