Something Other Than Sports

Saturday night, June 25th, Makenzie participated in our Stake Youth Show Choir,
Made In The USA.
It was made up of different music that had made America what it is, Jazz, Rock, Country, Broadway and Patriotic. It was a really fun show. These kids practice the last 2 weeks from 9am-noon, M-F, and rehearsed
all Saturday before the performance.

Matthew...Elder Smith had his first baptism!

Matthew had his first baptism of his mission. There have been people that he has taught that have been baptized, but it was after he was transferred. The man who was baptized is named Cesar. I have no clue what his last name is, out of all of Matthew's letters he is just referred to as Cesar.

Here are a couple of quotes from Matthew's recent letter,
"This week has been the best week in the mission! I got to baptize Cesar and participate in his confirmation! That baptism was one of the most spiritual ones that I have been to."
"When it was just me and him afterwards before we changed he gave a big hug and started crying in relief that he was finally baptized."

How old am I?

There is nothing like sitting in church listening to your son's friends give their mission homecoming talks to make you feel old, not to mention that two of Brittney friends, that were in the congregation,  are getting married this year and these girls were in my 5th year group up at camp three years ago. Where did the time go??

Here is a picture for Matthew

Colby Crabtree and Daniel Wilkes
Colby got home in May and Daniel last week. Matthew went to Philmont with both of them
and Dale was their Young Men's President.
It has been fun to watch all these young men return home from their missions and especially nice for Dale since he was their Young Men's President. I do have a funny story about Daniel though. He along with Matthew and other's were at our house.Daniel decided to go skinny dipping in our pool and Matthew and Daniel's brother Andrew threw his clothes on top of our roof, and we have a high roof. I was home, but didn't know any of this went on. They were talking about it in Priest Quorum and telling Dale about this and that I was home to which Dale responded, yes I know and Sister Smith wasn't impressed. To this day I think Daniel thinks I saw him in our pool. You've got to love the quick thinking on Dale's part.

Midlife Crisis?

My new running shoes.
Jacob grabbed a package of brightly colored socks and asked me if I wanted them to go with my shoes.

I love family dinner time

During dinner last night we got a phone call. The caller ID read, toll free number, which mean telemarketer. Jacob answered it. They asked for Mrs. Smith, Jacob responded, "Can you call back later, or better yet, never?" Never a dull moment at our dinner table, especially last night between phone calls, us playing with our food and being hopped up on helium from Brittney's leftover graduation balloons. Dale just has this look on his face of, "Who did I marry and what has she done to our kids!"

Sunset

Sun setting from our backyard. I missed the really cool shot with the clouds in front of the sun. That's what prompted me to get the camera in the first place, but it was going down fast and I missed it.
