Basketball Banquet 2012

Makenzie had her Basketball Banquet last night. We usually have it in the 9th grad cafeteria at the school, this year we were able to have it at the Falcon Point Country Club. It was a much nicer atmosphere, but the food wasn't all that great. It was nice to see Makenzie's team recognized for an undefeated season. This is the first time they have had an undefeated JV team at the school. This group of girls has been fun to be around. They were so funny last night and even clapping in unison as a team. We love this team!!

Makenzie's First Varsity Track Meet

The video I posted previous cannot be seen because of the song we chose.
This is the same video, just some different music.
We definitely liked the other song better, but I guess we can't use it for copyright reasons.

Makenzie's 1st Varsity Track Meet

Makenzie threw so well at the JV track meet on Thursday that they pulled her up to throw on Varsity yesterday. She had a great meet! She placed 5th in both Discus and Shot Put. They award points to those placing 1st - 6th. She made points for her team! Her Discus throw was 96' 6 1/2" and her Shot throw was 34'10". If you were to ask her if it was worth it to be at the school at 7am on a Saturday, I'm guessing she would say yes. Way to Go Makenzie!!

Focusing to throw in the finals

Cooling off in the pool after a long warm morning!

A very proud Dad made this video so Makenzie can remember this day.

Here is someting we found online:
We need to teach people how to spell Makenzie's name right!

This is for you Matthew

Peyton Manning is a Denver Bronco.
He looks good behind the Broncos logo.
We might have to start cheering for them again.

Matthew, you will still be my favorite #18 in an orange jersey!

Some Trek Pictures

Pictures from Trek 2012 are starting to pop up on facebook, so here are some of Makenzie and Jacob.

Did pioneers have cool sunglasses?

Another family pic

Are they running from the Port-a-potty smell?
At least they had them!

Family cheer

For some must push and some must pull.....as we go up the muddy hill

Oatmeal, for trek only!

After Makenzie and Jacob showered and washed off all the trek mud, we took them to Chipotle to eat. While driving there they were talking about the food they had at trek. The first morning they had cornmeal mush for breakfast. They said the first few bites weren't bad because they were hungry, but then it got gross. They had oatmeal the next morning and they said it really tasted good, but then Jacob told me, just because he ate it doesn't mean I need to making it for them at home.

They're Home....

...and so is their muddy clothes!

By the mud on their stuff you can tell Trek 2012 was a success!
I think Makenzie and Jacob have a real appreciation for the pioneers!
Funny story, Jacob was telling us about a girl in his family that was really annoying. Dale asked if she was hot, to which Jacob responded, "NO!" i asked hi if there were any cute girls in his group, he said, "I don't know, they were all wearing pioneer clothes and it was hard to tell." He is all boy.

Trek 2012

Makenzie and Jacob left for Trek yesterday morning. I was driving , so we left the house at 4:30am to go get the rest of the kids going in my car. We then headed to the church to check in and they had a short meetin where Brigham Young addressed them. It was 5:45 before we hit the road, but not until we stopped to get some kolaches, a good carb load up for the Trek ahead. It took about 3 hours and 15 minutes to get to the trek site. I had to wait until all the cars got there before I could return home, since the road was really muddy and only one car could get through without getting stuck in the mud. Hope they have a good time even though they weren't super excited.
Which Trekkies look the happiest, the 2008 Trekkies or the 2012 Trekkies?
The kitchen is still the same after 4 years.
Our kids do look alike!

All the waterproofed shoes.
They will need it! It's not suppose to rain, but it was really wet up there from the rains the week before

Jacob still looking excited

Off Makenzie goes

The handcarts lined up and ready to go.
Jacob is reallly wanting the wagon and team of horses about now.

Are we having fun yet?

There were puddles like this everywhere

The road leading out after the muddiest part of the road had past, but still muddy

This is the terrain they will be trekking through

This is a piece of hardtack I made. I made a bunch of it. It's made with flour salt and water and believe me, it is hard. I dropped a piece on the floor and it didn't break, but I think it might have cracked the tile.
I think the kids get this the first night with some broth. YUM...not!
I hope they get it with some liquid or they are going to have a bunch of broken teeth.
The joys of trek.
