Another Day In Provo

I started my day off with a run in the nice cool Utah morning air, unfortunately the altitude and one hill kind of spoiled the weather, but it was good to get out and run!

Jacob and I went out to breakfast at McDonald's with Brent, Carolyn and Kristen. After that Jacob and Kristen headed to Nickel City to play the arcade games. They spent quite a bit of time there because Jacob hit the jackpot on some game and won $20.00 worth of free games. I spent that time walking around the BYU campus to see how much it has changes in 30 years. It hasn't change too much, but there are a few more buildings and they have updated and made other buildings a lot bigger. It was a beautiful day to walk around outside. I even went into the bookstore and didn't even buy anything!!!

We had some yummy french dip sandwiches, that Carolyn made, for dinner. Craig(Dale's cousin) and Chelsea and their kids came over for dinner also. After dinner Jacob and I headed down to the field house to watch Makenzie play some basketball. We didn't get to see too much because we got there late and they shortened the game time, but what we saw she looked good.

Makenzie and the girl in the black shirt were going at each other. Good thing they aren't roommates

She still gets the pass

She shot and she scored at the buzzer.
Kristen, Carolyn and Chelsea came to watch Makenzie, but she was done playing. We headed over to get shaved ice and met Jessica and Ezra there and Brent joined us. It was a nice cool way to end the day.

When I got back to Brent and Carolyn's house I sat outside and talked to Dale and watched the sun go down from their front porch.

Provo Life

Jacob, Makenzie and I are in Utah for a few weeks so the kids can attend BYU basketball camp. We arrived on Sunday afternoon to a high temperature of 67! I'm usually cold at that temp, but it felt so good after the hot summer we have been having  at home.

We are staying with Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Brent. The kids and I got up yesterday morning and went to McDonald's for breakfast and then took Makenzie to check into camp.

Jacob and I headed over to the BYU Bookstore after we left Makenzie at the field house. Later that afternoon we went to In n Out for lunch. There were to sets of missionary companionship's in there eating and I definitely thought of Matthew since he really likes  to eat there, won't be long before he and Brittney are making their many trips there.

Last night we ate dinner at Brent and Carolyn's and their son Craig and his daughter Maddie joined us. After dinner, Jessica, Jordan and Ezra came over. I was happy to see them, especially happy to see Ezra. Later on we headed to Sonic for our half priced milkshakes.

Sunday's Midnight Snack Stop

Jacob enjoying a cheeseburger at Matthew and Brittney's favorite Sunday, midnight snack place.
It was so nice we could even eat outside and not break a sweat!

Someone had fun today

Brittney was the lucky one today, she got to spend this very hot and humid day at the lake with our neighbors. We didn't feel too bad for her when she was complaining about hitting the water really hard when she tried to jump the wake.

Summer Basketball Training

Makenzie and Jacob are doing basketball skills training with Coach Lasker this summer. Coach Lasker plays basketball for the British Basketball League. We met him at the high school basketball camps many summers ago. Friday was their first lesson. They were in squatting position a lot. Makenzie's quads were very sore afterwards and Jacob's knees were sore.

Insurance Hike

Makenzie got her Driver's License today, while I am happy to have another driver, the insurance hike, not so fun.

Last Meal....NOT

Matthew's Bishop had him over for dinner to have his last meal before transfers, only Matthew didn't get transferred, he is spending his last 6 week where he has spent the last 7 months.

Long Lost Cooler

I haven't seen this cooler since November of 2008. I used it to put drinks in it for the high school football coaches when I was in charge of taking them lunch Matthew's senior year. The team mom's cooler went missing and she asked if she could borrow mine to put fruit in it for the team during their first playoff game. That was the last I saw of it. The mom felt bad, but it was just a cooler. I figured it was left at the stadium that we played at. Last week one of the coaches was in the equipment storage room and saw my name on a cooler. He returned it to me after our boys basketball game last night. I never thought I'd see it again. Coach Simmons said he had seen it there before, but never saw the name. His wife said I should wash it down with bleach to kill all the staph :)

Rock, Paper, Scissors

Jacob had his first Summer League basketball game last night. This league is just through the school district and the teams are made up by schools. Jacob's team is made up of kids that will be in 9th grade next year and go to Cinco Ranch HS. We played the team that was made up of the kids going into 10th grade at Cinco HS. All these boys from both teams know each other. The two shortest guys from both teams decided to do the jump ball, so that meant Jacob was doing it. He is good friends with the kid from the other team that was doing the jump ball. Before the ball was tossed, they did Rock, Paper Scissors to see who would win the jump ball, I'm not even kidding. It was pretty funny!

I love all the smiles on their faces

R.I.P.

Our pool basketball goal bit the dust yesterday.
Thanks for the many years of service you provided.
You will be missed, but luckily you can be replaced.

Pass It Down

Sunday, while looking at the new Mrs. Jimmer's wedding dress, Brittney started to tell me things she liked and didn't like about peoples wedding dresses, although we loved Mrs. Jimmer's dress. I told her she could just wear mine(of course in 4 or 5 years). She then wanted to try it on so I dug it out of my closet.Yes, we had puffy dresses back then but that was the style and who knows, in 4 or 5 years it could be the style again!

Astros Game

Dale and I were invited to the ConocoPhillips Suite for an Astros game. It was nice and relaxing, at least after we got there, we got stuck in the biggest traffic jam and it took us over an hour to get there. There wasn't a huge group in the suite so that was nice and the food was really yummy, especially the dessert. They had these Texas Pecan Bars that were super yummy, that I had to have two and then I even got the ice cream sundae with Bluebell ice cream in the plastic, pink astros cap. We have a bunch of them at home and tried to give them to somebody else, but they came home with us. Lets see how long they sit before I throw them away. Thank you for the invite ConocoPhillips!

What I'm still up to....

I'm up a ladder still painting the house. I've now completed the family room and the computer room/loft and I have blisters on my hands to show it. Who knew you could get blisters from holding a paint roller. I may have to take a break this week, mostly so I can clean house and maybe make a few meals for my family.

This is what I look like after I've run 5 miles in the heat and humidity and have been painting for a few hours.
You can see why Dale married me, I'm just so attractive here.

While painting we got a hail storm complete with a tornado warning.
It was a good afternoon to be inside painting.

The finished hallway upstairs

The family room. I haven't hung window treatments or pictures yet. Just enjoying freshly painted walls

A view of the family room from the loft

The computer room/loft.
You can see part of the entry way off to the right where we just can't quite reach the top.
May have to pay someone to come and do that or borrow a friends ladder.
While painting the trim in the computer room, the internet router fell and hit me in the head
and left a nice knot, but i was more concerned about the ding it made in the wall.
