Getting Ready to Go and Let Go
I spent the afternoon shopping and then went to lunch. I usually do this with the girls, but today this is what I did with Matthew. We were shopping for this stuff: Missionary attire. He is lucky in that he gets to wear short sleeve shirts and slacks and not a suit. he does need 1 suit, but we bought one before he went to BYU and he hardly wore it so it's good to go for 2 years. I guess it's time to start getting him prepared to go. I think I'm still in a stage of denial that he will be gone for 2 years and that I can't pick up my cell phone and talk to him when ever I want to. We prepare them to to want to go on a mission their whole lives, but no one prepares Mom and Dad, but mostly Mom's on letting them go.

Strange Reality
We had the missionaries over for dinner last night and it was really strange thinking that will be Matthew in a few months. When did Matthew get so old? When did I get so old????

Our Musical Children??
Over the past 4 month's the youth in our Stake have been preparing a musical presentation called From Cumorah's Hill. They performed it this last Saturday and Sunday evening at a high school theater. They actually did 2 performances on Sunday. Makenzie had a speaking part and did a great job. Then they all sang in the choir made up of 250 youth. It was a really nice program and they all sang well and said their parts well! The whole choir

Jr. High Wrap Up
Makenzie had her last big Jr. High Party last night. Our school has an 8th grade dance that is almost like a mini prom. Unfortunately the weather was really bad. We had a down pour of rain that put a damper on outside and group pictures. I just took pictures of Makenzie by herself at home and I think she got a few with her friends at the dinner and dance, but we didn't want the girls running in and out of houses since they all had their hair done. Her group went to the High School where there was a catered meal and a string quartet playing. They then were shuttled on a school buses to the Jr. High for the dance and other activities. She had a really good time despite the rain. Brittney doing Makenzie's hair.

Mom Tribute-Brittney Style
Here is the Mother's day video Brittney made in one of her classes.
Matthew made one last year if you remember me posting it.
It was a different Mother's Day, it was the first time in 17 years that I didn't have a kid singing with the Primary in Sacrament Meeting or me playing the piano for them. I got to sit with my whole family and watch the Primary kids sing.

Party Time
Makenzie had her birthday party today. Parties are so much easier when you have a pool, get a cake and order pizza and you are good to go! It was a warm, but very cloudy day. The sun kept trying to break through the clouds and occasionally it did, but it didn't keep a few of the girls from getting sunburned. Far different sky than in my last post!
Makenzie's cake. I had a picture collage of her sports this past year.
How many 8th graders can you get into a rubber boat?
The group! What a nice bunch of girls they all are!

Beautiful Spring
It has been so nice here in Katy the past few days. The weather is in the lower 90's with low humidity!!! The sky has been so blue and no clouds in sight. Right now our magnolia tree's and roses are blooming up a storm. The grass is so nice and green. I'm glad everything in the front yard is growing, since all the tropical plants in the back yard froze this past winter and it's starting to come back, but slowly.
