A Boy and His Dog
A few days ago I looked out the window and saw Jacob laying in one lawn chair and Sammie in the one next to him. They both looked like they were soaking up some sun. By time I could get the camera, they both moved. Jacob loves Sammie and Sammie loves Jacob. Here is what I did capture.
Houston, We Have a Problem...The Temperature
Yesterday Morning when I went for my run it was 68 degrees and extremely humid. I looked like a drowned rat after my run. I'm thinking, isn't this January? It was 82 when I went to Brittney's basketball game last night, actually it was an 1 1/2 hours before her game because I had to work the concession stand for the Freshman game, but after her game it was 43 outside. A cold front blew in.
Me looking like drowned rat...OK maybe I look like that anyways. All my dignity has gone out the window with these photo's!
Well, this morning January decided to arrive. It was 34 degrees this morning for my run with a wind chill of 28 degrees. I guess I need to be careful in what I'm thinking.
Houston, please pick a temperature!!

Matthew's Football Banquet
Last week Matthew had his Football Banquet and got his Letterman Jacket. Here are a few pictures from the banquet. They aren't very good, It was dark and I was far back so I didn't get them in focus that well.
Head Football coach talking about Matthew's accomplishments
Matthew's Coach from JV Year
The Quarterback Coach
Academic All District. I didn't know that until that night. It shouldn't have been a surprise since he was Academic All State

Video of him receiving his award
I am grateful that he is such a hard worker and that he was recognized for that. I'm also glad he came out of Varsity Football injury free!! The worst injury he received this year was yesterday when Makenzie hit him with her scripture case because he was sitting shotgun and she called it.

Makenzie: MVP of Basketball Tournament
Makenzie had a very busy basketball week! She had her regular District game and her team was in the West Houston Middle School Tournament. She won her District game and the Tournament. Even more exciting, her coach named her the MVP of the Tournament. Needless to say, she was very tired last night and slept well!

Want a Puppy?
When I leave to take Jacob to school in the morning, Sammie usually runs out of the garage and wants to play. This morning she didn't come out. When I got back from taking Jacob to school she still didn't come out. I went in the house to get my gloves and a house key so I could go for my run. Still no dog. I got worried and opened the door to the garage and looked up the stairs only to see a bunch of video cords and papers on the stairs and Sammie at the top with a video game box in her mouth. I go up the stairs and pick up the cords and paper on my way to the room to find the door open and a huge mess. It's a good thing she is so cute or I would have beaten her with the video game box. She is lucky Dale didn't find her or he might have hit her with box. I'm also wondering who left the door open or didn't shut it all the way. I decided I better go for my run, work out some anger, then clean up. I sure hope all the video game systems still work!
These are holes in the wall at the top of the stairs that I think both dogs dug through. They did this awhile ago. I almost stuffed Sammie through one of them.
Matthew Gets Asked to Sadies
On Monday night I was told that I needed to get Matthew out of the house so a girl could leave something for Matthew to ask him to Sadie's. OK, he has been sick so I can't ask him to go to the store or run an errand for me, that would be cruel. Brittney suggested that I tell him to go out into the room in the garage so I can vacuum. That one he would fall for. I don't know where she wants to leave her invite or even what it is. I go into his room to make sure it was somewhat clean and it was. His desk was dusty so I dusted it off. He had his homecoming garter from this year hanging on his cork board. The girl asking him to Sadie's was the girl he took to homecoming last year so I found the garter she made and hung it on his cork board also. I know, that is silly, just don't want to offend anyone. Well I'm waiting for the text to get him out of the house. I felt like Brittney carrying my cell phone around. This was all for nothing. The girl felt bad Matthew was sick, so she ran the doorbell and left this on the porch.
It read:This might just be a dirty trick, but to Sadie's I'm asking you real quick. Dig through the dirt to find my name, or eat it too, it's part of the game.
The container had crushed up Oreo's and gummy worms. He found the name and was excited to be asked. At least as excited as Matthew gets.
Matthew just loves it when I document his life on video or film. NOT!

Busy With Life
Been busy with life and haven't blog for a week. We have been living and breathing basketball and this week is going to be worse with Makenzie's team in a tournament. Tack on 3 more games to the already 4 and Matthew's Football Banquet.
Something funny from Makenzie's game: The little boy sitting next to me said, "You are Makenzie's mom and that's her dad and her brother." I said Jacob was her boyfriend and the little boy made a choking gesture. I said no, he was her brother. He said, "Yea, I know, he's to ugly to be her boyfriend." This is from a 5 year old with 4 older sisters. Pretty funny, but I don't think Jacob found it funny. Makenzie's team did win. Brittney had a game on Tuesday and Friday night. Due to injuries she got to start in her Tuesday game and did great. She had a real good game Friday night. She was 2-2 at the free throw line(she is usually Shaq at the line). Her team won both those games. Jacob had his game at 8:30 Saturday morning. They won and he had 10 points. They had picture day that day also. I thought I would have a whole Saturday afternoon to do whatever, but when we got home from pictures, Matthew had a fever of 102. He had not been feeling well the day before. I took him to a couple of different places that were just closing. I finally found a doc in the box that was open. While waiting to be seen he started throwing up, luckily he got it in a trash can. When we got in to see the PA, he ask what him what symptoms he had. The PA looked at me and gave me the hand. He obviously didn't want to here from me. Poor Matthew was so out of it and could hardly remember everything he was going through. I'm still not sure what he was diagnosed with. He is on an antibiotic and a few other drugs. The PA was probably in the room with him for a whole 3 minutes. Matthew is feeling a little better today. He did go to school, but I have Jacob home today. He has a headache and upset stomach. I'm not sure if he is getting what Matthew had or he is feeling that way from a bump on his head he got at a friends house yesterday. Need to get the house clean and put up laundry and pay some bills. Man, I need a nap!
I did take some time yesterday to scan some old college pictures to share with past roommates on facebook. The 80's were scary! My kids got a good laugh at the pictures. The one's they laughed the hardest at I left out. I still need a nap!

Jacob and Dale's Basketball Debut
Church Basketball
Yesterday was the Stake Girls Basketball Tournament. Our Ward won 1st place. Brittney and Makenzie played so well together. What a great team those two make!
Brittney and Makenzie the awesome duo!
Makenzie quickly getting back on defense
Makenzie inbounding the ball
Makenzie inbounding the ball
Brittney guarding the ball
Your not going to set a pick on me
Give me that ball!!
She can dribble the ball, who knew.
Get that rebound
I wish I had gotten more pictures of Makenzie blocking passes and shots. I think people were amazed that she was only 12. she handled herself really well against the older and bigger girls. They also played the whole time in every game! I'm also glad they were injury free as probably are their school coaches.
